X-Send-Pr-Version: 3.2 >Number: 4632 >Category: os-os2 >Synopsis: End of file character in httpd.conf causes Apache to fail to start. >Confidential: no >Severity: non-critical >Priority: medium >Responsible: apache >State: open >Class: sw-bug >Submitter-Id: apache >Arrival-Date: Tue Jun 22 16:20:00 PDT 1999 >Last-Modified: Sat Jun 26 21:25:51 PDT 1999 >Originator: david.kaatz@intermec.com >Organization: >Release: 1.3.6 >Environment: OS2 Warp 4, revision 9.033 (fixpak9 installed) >Description: SUB (hex1A) character causes Apache to fail at startup with the error: "Syntax error on line nnn of c:/apache/conf/httpd.conf: Invalid command '->', perhaps mis-spelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration" displayed at the command prompt. Although this is minor, in OS2 it is quite annoying, as the default editors provided with the OS both seem to stick in the end-of-file SUB character. >How-To-Repeat: In OS2, edit the configuration file with the 'E' editor. Make any change and save it. It now will have the end-of-file character as the last character. >Fix: Ignore end-of-file characters in the .conf file, or ignore only if it is the last character. >Audit-Trail: Release-Changed-From-To: 1.3.6, 1.3.7-1.3.6 Release-Changed-By: manoj Release-Changed-When: Sat Jun 26 21:25:51 PDT 1999 Category-Changed-From-To: config-os-os2 Category-Changed-By: manoj Category-Changed-When: Sat Jun 26 21:25:51 PDT 1999 >Unformatted: [In order for any reply to be added to the PR database, you need] [to include in the Cc line and make sure the] [subject line starts with the report component and number, with ] [or without any 'Re:' prefixes (such as "general/1098:" or ] ["Re: general/1098:").
